Yami Gautam on playing a cop in Dasvi: It's one of those professions that's so inspiring

Yami Gautam is all set to impress her fans once again in the upcoming social comedy titled Dasvi. The movie that stars Abhishek Bachchan as the protagonist, Ganga Ram Chaudhary - a corrupt politician and Nimrat Kaur as his wife, has Yami playing the role of a female cop in Haryana. 

The fim's team recently hosted a special screening for the inmates of the Agra Central Jail where Dasvi has been shot extensively. While talking about essaying the character of a Haryanvi female cop, Yami said in a statement, ""It's one of those professions that's so inspiring for anyone to watch especially being a girl and so when a woman takes up a post like that, stature like that who is so honest, who is independent, who is razor-sharp with her focus and at the same time it doesn't take her empathy away, it doesn't make her not witty, doesn't make her a rude person." The A Thursday actress added that they made the characters on these principles and background story for Jyoti Deswal.

Further talking about how she prepped for her role, the actress revealed that she watched a couple of documentaries along with stories of real-life female cops and IPS officers. She observed how they carried themselves and how they were both inside and outside the jail, what was their family life like. How did they talk , what kind of sense of humour they had, how they dressed up, whether they were always in their uniform or not. Yami also said that it came as a revelation for her as, 'this is a role or someone of that stature'.

Earlier, Yami had also revealed that she'd trained with a diction coach to get her Haryanvi accent right in the film. 

Dasvi is gearing up for an OTT release on Netflix and Jio Cinema on April 7. On the work front, Yami will next be seen in OMG 2 that stars Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi.
