Yami Gautam, who recently starred with Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur in Dasvi, has spoken against the lack of appreciation she sometimes receives for her efforts.

Yami was questioned if she felt left out because her performance in A Thursday was underappreciated. She revealed that she doesn't "want to seek affirmation" for her work since she believes in doing things well.

"I don't intend to seek affirmation of my work, of my presence in this profession based on any list," Yami remarked in an interview with Bollywood Bubble.

The actor had recently resorted to Twitter to express her dissatisfaction with a prominent portal's critique, which she deemed "disrespectful.”

Abhishek, who was also there at the conversation, praised Yami's mature thought process and expressed his regret if his excellent work was overlooked.

"There's only so much you can do as an actress... you need to find your peace," Yami said, adding that she used to feel horrible about being made to feel left out. Now, she realises that there is “only so much you can do as an actor... you need to find your peace."

Yami has been in the Hindi film industry for ten years. Her most prominent movies include Vicky Donor, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Bala, Badlapur and Kaabil. In Dasvi, she plays a tough cop named Jyoti Deswal.

She marked a decade in the Indian cinema this year. The actor told OTTplay in an exclusive interview that she hopes to continue “engage, entertain with good performances and stories.”

The actor’s upcoming projects are Lost, an emotional thriller from director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, and OMG 2, a sequel to the 2012 comedy-drama. Lost also stars Neil Bhoopalam as well as Pankaj Kapur, and is going to be released in 2022. Meanwhile, for OMG 2, Akshay Kumar will be joined by Yami and Pankaj Tripathi. The sequel is directed by Amit Rai.
