Dharma Productions head-honcho and filmmaker Karan Johar has hit the strides with the success of Brahmastra. With the first instalment of a prospective trilogy reaping great rewards at the box office, Johar and his entire team can breathe a huge sigh of relief, especially after the recent long lull. And now, as per the latest from the rumour mill, Karan Johar is keen on galvanizing the momentum further by bringing two mighty creative forces together.

Yes, according to a few online reports, Karan Johar is likely to team up with Netflix and an array of producers to forge a collaboration between Tamil director Shankar and Rocking Star Yash. Navbharat Times reports that Shankar and Yash have been in talks for a historical war-drama which warrants a whopping budget close to Rs. 1000 crores, more than twice the size of Brahmastra's budget! While the claims do not have any official backing yet, speculations are certainly rife that the potential multilingual project will feature several other 'pan-Indian' superstars along with the KGF 2 actor.

The same reports also reveal that the Shankar-Yash collaboration will be based on Su Venkatesan's epic Tamil novel Velpari, a story centred on the Velir tribal king Pari who is described as 'broad-shouldered, long-haired, moustachioed, and one of the last seven great patrons in Tamil literature. Velpari is often compared to the other epic historical novel Ponniyin Selvan whose cinematic adaptation has been conceived by Mani Ratnam.

Following the stellar success of K.G.F: Chapter 2 which grossed over Rs. 1200 crores against a rumoured budget of Rs. 100 crores, Yash's next project has been a major talking point among moviegoers. Yash 19, as it has tentatively termed, has had multiple filmmakers attached to it, including Kannada director Narthan and Shankar, but the actor has been reluctant to divulge any detail of his future prospects. "Good things need time and I will make the announcement at the right hour (sic)," said Yash in a recent media interaction about his next venture.

Shankar, on the other hand, is currently busy directing Ram Charan and Kiara Advani for his next (tentatively RC 15) which also stars S.J. Suryah, Jayaram, Anjali, Srikanth, and others. The team is said to have recently shot for an opulent dance number choreographed by Ganesh Acharya that features as many as 1000 dancers. Fellow Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraju has penned the story of the film and the combination of Dil Raju & Sirish has produced the film under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
