Ramayana is one of the most talked-about films in India right now, and actor and producer Yash has finally started filming it. It is being created as a multi-part mythological epic and will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari (Break Point). It will be produced by Prime Focus Studios, which is headed by Namit Malhotra, in partnership with Monster Mind Creations and Yash. You may expect to see Ramayana Part 1 in theatres during Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in theatres during Diwali 2027.
The iconic tale's nemesis, Ravana, will be played by Yash (Rocky), better known as the Rocking Star. Not only does the Kannada superstar co-produce the film with Ranbir Kapoor (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), who plays Lord Ram, but he also stars in it.
This rendition of Ramayana stands out due to its expansive scope and global collaboration. Mad Max: Fury Road and The Suicide Squad stunt director Guy Norris has been enlisted to craft the action scenes. Specifically for the fight scenes involving Yash's character, Norris is presently in India choreographing intricate sequences. Production insiders have revealed that the actor is the focal point of the majority of the action sequences, which are being staged as big cinematic highlights.
Yash reportedly spent about 60 to 70 days filming the first installment. The actor, who is known for his hands-on approach, has allegedly been working closely with the stunt and direction crews. Set photographs showing him looking physically aggressive and battle-ready as he transforms into Ravana have already started to stir interest.
Many in the Indian film industry viewed the project as a significant milestone for visual effects-driven films. The production team is shooting the film on gigantic sets, aiming to reimagine the legendary realm with a global visual sense. It contains a large ensemble cast. A visually immersive experience supported by top-notch technology and design is what the production team is shooting for.
Involvement from Yash in several capacities, including as an actor, co-producer, and creative collaborator, gives Ramayana the makings of anything beyond a star-driven vehicle. It is a daring attempt to use cinematic techniques to introduce Indian mythology to a worldwide audience.
