Yash Dasgupta contests the EIMPA election this year, while Nusrat Jahan supports him

Actor Yash Dasgupta joined politics in 2021 when he contested as the BJP candidate from Chanditala in the assembly election. He was defeated at that time. This time, he is once again a candidate. However, this time he is contesting in the upcoming election of EIMPA (Eastern India Motion Pictures Association). 

The election took place on Friday where Yash has his name as a producer. He recently started his production house. Is that why he decided to contest? The organization's president Pia Sengupta told Anandabazar Online, “New people should participate to move the industry forward. Yash has prior experience of contesting in political elections. Hence I requested him to contest here.” Bonny Sengupta is also a producer now and hence he, for the first time, will cast his vote in this election. 

Elections will be held in categories including directors, producers, distributors, etc. Ritabrata Bhattacharya will contest for the chairman of the producers category. He has six members under him, who are Pia Sengupta, Pallabi Chatterjee, Pradip Churiwal, Reshmi Mitra, Bijay Kalyani, and Yash. 

Recently, the EIMPA members held a private meeting where Yash and Nusrat were present. Yash said, “I am new and don't know the matter fully. But I got the seniors by my side. Hopefully, we will win.” Nusrat did not get a ticket for the upcoming parliament election. She is not contesting in EIMPA's election either. But she said, “We are the newest here. We are grateful to get the place with everyone's blessing. Yash is contesting. I came here to support him.”
