Yashoda, the action thriller starring Samantha, is turning out to be a surprise hit at the box office despite minimal promotions leading up to its release. The film, made at a tight budget, is proving to be a safe bet for the producers and is performing very well in the US, while registering impressive collections in the Telugu states. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kalpika Ganesh, Unni Mukundan, Madhurima, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj and Murali Sharma too played important roles in it.

The film's directors Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan recently hinted at an idea for a sequel in the success meet held this week. They said, "We certainly have a plot idea for Yashoda 2 and Yashoda 3 as well. However, we can take a call on it only after Samantha's response to the idea. We would want her to recover fully and narrate the idea when she's hale and hearty. Even our producer is game for it. Varalaxmi will also have a role to play in Yashoda 2, if it happens."

"We have a super scientist like Unni Mukundan in the lineup and he's capable of anything (laughs). So, we can't rule out Yashoda 2 yet. For now, we're thankful that our first Telugu film ahs yielded us good results. It's a great moment for us and we'll always be indebted to our producer for the same. Everyone from Samantha to Varalaxmi to composer Mani Sharma, cinematographer M Sukumar and art director Ashok have supported us in this journey," they added.

Producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies shared, "Everyone's asking us about Yashoda 2. There are new crimes unravelling across the globe everyday and the effort for a sequel must come from our directors. The film's success at the box office reinstated our faith in making quality cinema and the confidence that audiences will appreciate it."
