Earlier today, the official Manchester City Football Club social media pages had a rather unusual post one would think. An image of three Kevin De Bruyne, İlkay Gündoğan and Phil Foden, captioned, ‘Our very own KGF’ – Kevin Gundo Foden. Naturally, fans of Rocking Star Yash and the team of his film KGF were beyond thrilled with this international recognition for the film, which released in theaters on April 14 and has been breaking box office records across the world since then.
Producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, which produced the KGF franchise, was among the first to share the post, “The brutal Force i.e. K.G.F. Hello from the Monster @ManCity,” he wrote, tagging all of team KGF too. Commenting on ManCity’s post, fans wrote, “The World is Rocky Bhai’s territory”, “Indian pride movie KGF”, “The whole world knows about Rocky Bhai”, “Grealish be like : why Gundo not me”, etc. In just three hours, the post gathered well over 130k likes.
For the uninitiated, KGF is a two-part movie franchise produced by Hombale Films, led by actor Yash as a gangster called Rocky Bhai. The second instalment of the film released in theatres recently in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Released in theatres on April 14, just over three years after the first part, KGF: Chapter also starred Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, BS Avinash, Saran Sakthi, Ayyappa P Sharma, Malavika Avinash, among many others. The film, which had a monstrous opening world-wide, is continuing its good run, a week later and is poised to break collection records set by Baahubali 2.
The digital rights of KGF: Chapter 2 have been sold to Amazon Prime Video, with the streaming platform apparently holding a 50-60 day from theatrical release deal to bring the film to them. KGF: Chapter 1 is also available on Amazon Prime Video.
