Yatra 2 motion poster: Director Mahi V Raghav promises a grand, sweeping biopic on AP CM YS Jagan

Mahi V Raghav, who was in the news for his widely watched web shows - Shaitan and Save The Tiger - on Disney Plus Hotstar, is back in action with the sequel to his political drama Yatra. While Yatra focused on late politician YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s padayatra leading to his first stint as a CM, the sequel centres on his son, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the current CM of Andhra Pradesh.

Shiva Meka is bankrolling the film under V Celluloid in collaboration with Mahi V Raghav’s home banner Three Autumn Leaves. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music for the biopic which’ll have cinematography by renowned technician Madhie. While the first poster of Yatra 2 was launched recently, the motion poster, offering a glimpse of the film’s premise, was unveiled today.

The motion poster commences with a panoramic shot of a hand-shaped statue, where a politician addresses the crowds and calls them his brothers, sisters and family members. With Santosh Narayanan’s emphatic background score, the glimpse focuses on the footsteps of YS Jagan, who later tells the masses, ‘you may not know me now..but remember I’m the son of YS Rajasekhar Reddy.’

Selva Kumar is the art director of the film. Tamil actor Jiiva is expected to play YS Jagan in the drama and a formal announcement on the same is expected soon. Yatra 2 will hit screens worldwide in February 2024 ahead of the AP legislative assembly elections. Other lead actors in the film will be confirmed shortly.

Yatra, the prequel, starred Mammootty in the lead role besides Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini, Jagapathi Babu and was produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy.
