Telugu political drama Yatra 2 has finally made its OTT debut on Amazon Prime Video. The political biopic that stars Jiiva and Mammootty, which is directed by Mahi V Raghav, is the sequel to the 2019 movie Yatra. The sequel revolves around how the son of the late Andhra Pradesh CM Rajasekhar Reddy, YS Jagan, takes over after his father’s untimely demise.
The film, which saw mixed-to-negative reviews upon its release, failed to attract audiences. Thus, it was termed a failure at the box office when it was released in theatres in February.

Earlier, when the OTT partner for Yatra 2 was announced, there were speculations that the film would be available to be streamed on March 8. However, it took another month for it to arrive in the digital space.
Written and directed by Mahi V Raghav, Yatra 2 is the sequel to the 2019 political drama Yatra, which starred Mammootty. While the first part was about YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s political journey, the second part sees Jiiva play YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and is about his rise to becoming the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. The film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, who plays Chandrababu Naidu; Suzanne Bernard as Sonia Gandhi; and Ketaki Narayanan as YS Bharath.
In an interview, Jiiva revealed that he was hesitant to be part of Yatra 2 due to its political nature. However, he was “blown away” after hearing the script. The actor initially sought advice from Mammootty, who advised him to treat it just as another role and that just because he is part of a political film, it doesn't mean that he supports a particular political party. This helped Jiiva ace the role.
Jiiva also revealed that Yatra 2 is an emotional story in addition to a political drama. He clarified that the film centres on Jagan's journey to becoming the Chief Minister following the sudden death of his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
