It has been confirmed that Yogi Babu plays an important role in Thalapathy 66. The actor-comedian has earlier worked along with Vijay in Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil, and Beast. Team Thalapathy 66, after completing a schedule in Chennai, has headed to Hyderabad. According to sources, actors had joined the crew in Hyderabad, where a huge set was erected in Ramoji Film City.

Further, we hear, the makers are planning to reveal the title and first look poster of the Thalapathy 66 by June 22, 2022, on Vijay's birthday. An official confirmation on the same is expected to be made soon. Touted to be a family entertainer, Thalapathy 66 reportedly won't have action sequences.

While Rashmika Mandanna is playing the female lead opposite Thalapathy Vijay, the film is directed by Vamshi Paidipally. S Thaman is composing the songs and original score for Thalapathy 66, which is produced by Dil Raju. Thalapathy 66 was expected to begin earlier in February itself, but there was a slight delay. Finally, the shoot kicked off in the first week of April 2022.

Shaam is said to be playing Vijay's elder brother in the film. The Iyarkai actor will be seen alongside Vijay after 22 years.

Prakash Raj, who has previously shared screen space with actor Vijay in films like Ghilli, Pokkiri, Sivakasi and Villu is also part of the cast. Thalapathy 66 will also see Sarathkumar playing Vijay's father.

In an interview with The Times of India, Sarathkumar had said, "I’ll be joining the team this month. We will be shooting from May till August. All I can say is that it’s a very powerful script where the importance of me being part of it was necessary. It’s a subject that will get the attention of all kinds of audiences.”

The Supreme Star expressed happiness that he’ll be working with Vijay. “During the film’s muhurat, we spoke about how we had met during the 250th-day function of Suriyavamsam at Kamala Theatre, and how I’d predicted on stage that he’d be the next superstar. He, too, remembered that. And I’m happy I was right,” he added, in an interview.
