Yogi Babu to headline a new series for Disney+ Hotstar, written and directed by Suresh Sangaiah

Yogi Babu, who is predominantly seen in comic roles in Tamil films, will soon be seen in a yet-to-be titled project for streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar. The announcement was made on Thursday, while sharing the first look poster of the project.

While it is yet to be confirmed if the project is a series or film, it is expected that it will be series. The project is tentatively called Production #17.

What do we know about Yogi Babu's new project?

The series will be written and directed by Suresh Sangaiah known for the film Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu, and backed by Jegan Baskaran and SR Ramesh Babu. The technical crew consists of V Thiyagarajan as the cinematographer and Nivas K Prasanna scoring the music. R Ramar is the editor and the art direction is handled by PL Subenthar.

The Hotstar specials will have Yogi Babu play the lead role. Besides him, the cast also includes George Marian, Raichal Rabecca of Good Night-fame, and Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, among others. The makers are yet to announce the genre and plot details. The streaming platform released a poster featuring Yogi Babu walking solely against the backdrop of what looks like a scenic landscape. It is expected that the makers will reveal the title and release date of the project soon.

Yogi Babu’s line-up of work

Yogi Babu, who gradually became one of the sought after comedians in Tamil film industry, was last seen in Siren alongside actor Jayam Ravi. The film released on February 16 and is currently running in theatres. The actor, who has proved his acting prowess in character roles like Karnan, and as protagonist in Mandela , is enjoyed for his witty one-liners and comic timing in his performances.

Yogi Babu also has a slew of releases in the pipeline. He is part of the highly anticipated Suriya-starrer Kanguva, and also Vijay's Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Yogi Babu will also be making his Malayalam debut with Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil and has Tamil films like Boat with director Chimbu Devan and Aranmanai 4 with Sundar C.
