Joe Goldberg seems unredeemable. Even though he promises Love and Henry that he will be a good husband and a father, leaving all his sins and crimes behind, he seems to only get himself into bigger trouble, with more bodies piling up. This, however, in Joe's words, isn't his fault. The twists in the finale of the latest season with Love sparing Marienne's life and Joe killing Love and faking his own death definitely took the audience by surprise. The season ended with Joe moving to Paris where Marienne had said she wanted to go with her daughter. So, how would Marienne react if she runs into Joe?
In an interview with Hollywoodlife, the actor Tati Gabrielle, who plays Marienne, revealed it. She also spoke about why she thinks Love spared her character Marienne in the You Season 3 finale and if she believes what Love told her about Joe.
The actor said that she would just bolt if she sees Joe again. "I don’t think that she would be easily schmoozed," she said adding that she, however, thinks that they need to have a conversation and it wouldn't be an easy one. “I do think that there would be a conversation needed to be had, one that has the backing of a threat like, hey, you try anything and I will end you. But I feel like she would want to know why. I feel like she would have questions,” she told the portal.
Is Marienne really the one for Joe as he believes? The show did show the sparks between Joe and his boss and it seemed real. So will Marienne forgive Joe for his past wrong-doings and accept him is what needs to be seen. Tati feels that Marienne wouldn't be able to get past it but she may want to as love surpasses all rationality. Matters of the heart are often touchy, yet tricky, said the actor. One cannot fall out of love the very instant they learn some dark secrets about their partner. "You feel other things like disgust, resentment, whatever the case may be. I feel like she wouldn’t want to go back, but she would still have that pull or longing. But ultimately like, no, you’re crazy, dude,” she added.
Marienne, who is on the path of redemption and is trying real hard after overcoming her alcoholism, might be feeling guilty about her ex Ryan's death. Even though she admits that she is relieved that Ryan is dead, she feels she has to now live with Joe's action. She wishes if Joe had just hit him and not kill him. “That blood is also on her hands. That’s something that she has to live with. That’s very unfair. Blood’s not the answer,” she further said.
Tati hopes for a happing ending for Marienne, wishing if she had moved to Paris like she always wanted to, along with her daughter, and started on her career as an artist. But on learning the truth about Joe, which she does believe to a great extent, the actor wishes for Marienne to expose Joe somehow. "But mostly just wanting her to have a good life. Like, after so much turmoil just being able to be an artist, be with your kid, do all the things you’ve ever wanted,” said the actor.
