Young Sheldon Season 5 Episode 7 review: Howard's cameo was so brief that it barely creates an impact

Story:

The latest episode titled "An Introduction to Engineering and a Glob of Hair Gel" is all about Sheldon and his first class of engineering while his meemaw Connie struggles and gets jealous as her boyfriend's ex-wife comes back to their lives 

Review:

The latest episode of Season finally reveals why Sheldon hates engineering and why he bullied Howard for being an engineer. Howard was the only engineer in his Pasadena group of friends. 

The episode begins with an introduction to engineering, narrated by Sheldon and written by Howard. Sheldon finds the introduction written by him and as usual, belittles him for such poor writing. Howard then asks him to leave and narrates it himself while ending the introduction with a photograph of him in an astronaut suit and saying how he went into space. The bickering between the two as they show off their achievements - Sheldon still wears his Nobel and talks about it while Howard doesn't miss a chance to talk about his venture into space. 

Sheldon then narrates his 'history of engineering' when he was introduced to the subject by his professor Boucher, who is very particular about punctuality and perfection. Sheldon, as usual, tries to be number 1 by finishing his assignment way ahead of the deadline but his professor does not seem impressed. It pisses him off and Missy enjoys watching him struggle to do his homework as she indulges in a bowl of popcorn. 

The cameo appearance of Howard was too brief. While Sheldon's friendship on the Big Bang Theory series with Howard has always been about bullying, bickering and belittling, it did create sparks when the news of his appearance in the prequel was made. However, it was too short to create an impact and lets you down. 

The episode does not reveal Mary and her current relationship with the young pastor, she dreamt of. On the other hand, it starts a new plotline with Connie's boyfriend's ex-wife June coming back into their lives. It gets Connie jealous when her boyfriend starts visiting her again and being Connie that she is, she walks into June's house and warns her to stay away from him. 

Verdict:

The episode is a fun watch as Sheldon is seeing struggling to understand or like engineering. The last scene where his professor imitates his angry pout is a must-watch. It sure ends on a funny note as it gives you a few bouts of laughter.
