Bollywood's three Khans - Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, all in 60, continue to build anticipation whenever they announce a film. In a new interview, reflecting on changing stardom dynamics, Imran Khan said veteran actors like SRK, Aamir, and Salman may need to rethink the kind of roles they take on.

What did Imran Khan say about Bollywood's three Khans?

In an interview with Showsha, Imran was asked about the three Khans of Bollywood, and he said that they should choose roles that are appropriate for their age. Imran acknowledged the extraordinary longevity of the careers of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, and noted that actors naturally move away from traditional lead roles as they age. He described this change as an inevitable and organic phase of any long-term acting career.

He continued that stardom also starts to transition because there is an audience that knows you and grows with you, and then there is a whole new younger generation that begins to attach itself to people closer to them in age and experience.

"When we watch films or shows, first and foremost, we are trying to see ourselves in those stories and characters. That’s what resonates with you. Instinctively, you connect with someone who is closer to your age and life experience. The younger generation might not want to watch the story of a 70 year old man," Imran shared.

Imran Khan's comeback film

Imran Khan’s return to acting with a cameo in the 2026 film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, directed by Vir Das, marks a 10-year hiatus from his last appearance in Katti Batti.

Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos is a Hindi-language spy action-comedy film produced by Aamir Khan Productions, featuring Vir Das in his directorial debut (co-directed by Kavi Shastri). The film is a self-aware parody that blends chaotic humour, culinary themes, and a "desi" twist on the spy genre. The film also has a cameo appearance by Aamir Khan. However, the film received mixed responses and underperformed at the box office.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan is set to return to films with Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, though its release remains uncertain as it was not announced during Netflix’s newly announced slate. The film reunites him with director Danish Aslam, with whom he previously collaborated on Break Ke Baad (2010).
