Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir Khan, has been preparing for his acting debut for the past four years. Yash Raj Films signed the actor for their ambitious drama Maharaj, set against the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case, marking his foray into movies. After finishing production in October 2023, the filmmakers revealed their plan to release the film on Netflix. As per the latest reports, Maharaj will officially launch in June 2024.

Pinkvilla reported that the premiere of Maharaj is scheduled for June 14, 2024, according to people close to the production. With the help of Netflix, YRF and Aditya Chopra are certain that Maharaj will reach a wider audience throughout the world. A reliable source informed them that the film has a well-planned promotional campaign.
Following a nine-day break leading up to the release, the trailer for Maharaj will be released around June 5, according to the source. Since it is an OTT release, Netflix has planned a brief promotional campaign in advance. The source explained that the content will do the talking and create more points for conversation post-release.
Director and cast of Maharaj
Siddharth P. Malhotra helms Maharaj, having previously directed Yash Raj Films' Hichki, which featured Rani Mukerji. Shalini Pandey, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sharvari all play significant roles in Maharaj. This film follows The Railway Men and The Romantics as Yash Raj Films' third direct-to-digital venture. In the film, Junaid is a journalist who stands up to powerful men. The release of the Aamir Khan-produced Love Today remake, featuring the young actor in the lead role, is also imminent.
Speaking about his upcoming projects, a source previously informed The Times of India that Junaid is preparing to start a third project, which will be significantly different from his previous two, following the completion of filming for two previous films. His next untitled project, which will mark his debut on screen alongside Khushi Kapoor, has generated much anticipation.
