Yuva bags OTT and satellite partners - Where to watch Yuva Rajkumar’s film after theatrical run

An OTT deal is a distant dream for most Kannada film teams even after a theatrical release. Platforms insist on ‘good ratings’ and decent business at the box office to make a deal, which is not easy to come by when there are multiple films releasing in theatres every week. Star films, of course, have no such worry, as streamers and TV channels jostle to secure those rights. Debutant Yuva Rajkumar has struck lucky on that front too, as the satellite and digital rights of his film, Yuva, have already been sold.

Yuva’s brother Vinay, who is a few films old does not enjoy this privilege. Even his most latest, Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, did not have an OTT partner on board during its release. It is only in the third week of its theatrical run and decent business numbers that streamers showed interest in the film directed by Suni.

Yuva, we are told, has been sold to Star Suvarna (satellite) and Amazon Prime Video (OTT), respectively, which should come as no surprise, considering that the streamer has an ongoing business relationship with Hombale Films, which is backing Yuva Rajkumar’s launchpad. Details about the deal, as in, when to expect the film, are not available at the moment. But if the current trend is anything to go by, Yuva should begin streaming after the 30-day mark.

The film, which is releasing in theatres on March 29, is said to be a campus story revolving around gang wars among students and how one of them, Yuva, stands up to fight and protect his friends. Yuva is director Santhosh Ananddram’s fourth project with Hombale Films after Rajakumara, Yuvarathnaa and Raghavendra Stores.

The filmmaker had been signed up to do another film with Puneeth Rajkumar, when the Power Star tragically passed away. When Yuva Rajkumar’s Puneeth Rudranag film Yuva Ranadheera did not take off, Santhosh and Hombale Films then stepped in to take care of his launch. For fans of the late Power Star, Yuva is the one who will fill that void, so the young actor has immense support coming his way, way before his first film comes out.
