Yuva Rajkumar’s divorce: Actor alleges torture from estranged wife; she counters with affair allegations

Yuva Rajkumar, the grandson of matinee idol Dr Rajkumar, who made his film debut earlier this year, is getting divorced. The actor, who married Sridevi Byrappa in 2019, has alleged mental torture, harassment, among others, in his divorce petition, which was filed on June 6, with the next hearing slated for July 4.

In her counter plea, Sridevi, who has been pursuing higher education at the Harvard University in the US, has alleged that the actor is in a relationship with his Yuva co-star and Kantara fame Saptami Gowda. Sridevi, who visited India in December 2023, is said to have confronted Yuva about the same then. The allegations that Yuva has levelled against Sridevi have been countered by her that she has been subjected to abuse by him and his family.

Sridevi has alleged that Yuva and Saptami have been ‘together’ for over a year, a time during which she has been pursuing a masters degree in the US. In a social media post, Sridevi expressed her disappointment over the false narrative that was being spun about her. Prior to leaving to the US, Sridevi is said to have been in charge of running the Dr Rajkumar Academy, which had been established as a coaching centre for Civil Service aspirants from Karnataka.

Yuva and Sridevi are said to have been living separately for over a year. Her absence during the promotions of his debut film Yuva had made headlines. Considering that Yuva’s debut was a major event in the ‘Dodmane’, with the entire family lining up to support him, the fact that Sridevi was not a part of any event had raised eyebrows, but was swept under the carpet citing her absence during her busy Harvard schedule.
