Yuva, the launchpad of Yuva Rajkumar is currently in theatres in its fourth week, but for the benefit of audiences who have not been able to catch it in movie halls, it is now available on OTT today. As of April 19, Yuva has come to Amazon Prime Video, albeit on the store only. Audiences can access the film for a payment of Rs 349. This arrangement is expected to go on for at least a week, after which it will be available to subscribers for free.
Directed by Santhosh Ananddram and produced by Hombale Films, Yuva has Yuva Rajkumar as the title character, a national-level wrester, who gets suspended for a few years from the sport following machinations by his main opponent. He takes out this frustration in college, where, as an engineering student, he spends more time drinking, smoking and picking fights with localites over petty issues. But then a personal tragedy forces Yuva to take up the first job available, which, given his sports issue, was one as a food delivery boy. How Yuva works towards solving his family’s problems and clears his name in the sporting arena forms the actual plot of the film.
The film did not open to great reviews when it came out at the end of March. Yuva’s dance and action skills received a lot of praise, but audiences and critics pointed out that the actor has a lot of room for improvement as far as his acting in the emotional scenes go. Yuva had Sapthami Gowda as the romantic interest, with Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani and Hitha Chandrashekhar as the rest of his family members. Also on the cast are Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Kishore, with the former playing the principal of the engineering college, while the latter filled in as the wrestling coach.
Yuva Rajkumar is rumoured to have a three-film deal with Hombale Films, but he is yet to confirm this or what his next movie will be.
