The launchpad of Yuva Rajkumar is rumoured to be pushed ahead to accommodate Prabhas’ Salaar on December 22

Yuva Rajkumar is yet to make his big screen debut, but the grandson of late matinee idol Dr Rajkumar is widely seen as the successor to his late uncle, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar and commands a massive fan following already. Puneeth’s fan groups have adopted Yuva as their new idol and have been eagerly looking forward to his launchpad, which is being directed by Santhosh Ananddram. The filmmaker was a Puneeth favourite, having collaborated on Rajkumara and Yuvarathnaa and the duo was planning a third film together when fate willed otherwise.
Following Puneeth’s demise, when Hombale Films took up the reins of Yuva’s debut, they paired him with Santhosh and announced that his first film, also called Yuva, would be in theatres on December 22. Although Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki was also set to release at the time, it was not seen as major competition for Yuva in the local market. However, with the recent reports and rumours about Hombale Films opting to move Salaar to December and push Yuva ahead to March 2024, fans are less than pleased.
Earlier today, #WestandwithYuva began trending on social media, as fans urged the banner not to move the film ahead and to either find an alternate date for Salaar or let both Yuva a nd Salaar hit theatres on the same day. The Prashant Neel directorial, reckon Yuva fans, is after all a Telugu film that is being dubbed into other languages. “We want Yuva on December 22”, was the message that was trending on social media. “We Are Not Interested In Wars Now 👍Don't Try To Create Hate On Another Movie, We Just Want Yuva Movie To Release On The Date Scheduled By You @hombalefilms,” wrote a fan, with another chiming in, “There is no need to postpone yuva let salaar and yuva release on same date.”
Yuva’s release date, of course, will also depend on Santhosh finishing the shoot and post-production on time. The team is still in shooting stages. Also, with Salaar already pushed ahead from September 28 and pressure from distribution partners, the production house will have to bring Prabhas’ film to theatres shortly. In fact, an official announcement on Salaar’s release date is expected tomorrow.
