The social media team at Hombale Films, it would seem, is very keenly following all discussions surrounding the banner’s next big release – Yuva. Only a day ago, several fan groups had begun discussing the lack of promotions of the film that marks the launch of Yuva Rajkumar, the younger son of Raghavendra Rajkumar, who is thought to be the one to fill the void left by his late uncle, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar. And today, Hombale Films has revealed the first ‘still’ from the film, featuring Yuva.

The film, according to the official synopsis on ticket aggregating sites, is set on an engineering college campus, were gang rivalries escalate to war, forcing Yuva to fight to protect his fellow mates. Yuva Rajkumar is paired with Kantara fame Sapthami Gowda in the film, which also stars Kishore, Achyuth Kumar and Sudharani, among others.

Yuva Rajkumar is being launched by Santhosh Ananddram, the filmmaker who made Rajakumaraa and Yuvarathanaa with Puneeth and was set to collaborate yet again for the same banner, when fate had other plans. In fact, the actor’s earlier launchpad was meant to be a period flick called Yuva Ranadheera.

Yuva, meanwhile, is said to be based on the script that Santhosh had for Puneeth, which was then reworked into a campus tale. The actor, we hear, has a three-film deal with Hombale Films, with a second film also likely to be made by Santhosh only.

The image from Yuva, meanwhile, has reinvigorated fans, who were thrilled with the actor’s look. “Fire in those eyes and confidence in that stance”, is what they could not stop gushing about. “The baton has been passed,” remarked one fan. The still was speculated to be from a college ragging scene.

Yuva is set to release in theatres on March 29. It is being said that the makers are contemplating paid premieres on March 28, but fans prefer a direct release with early morning shows on the 29th to show the power of the fandom.
