It was a given that Raghavendra Rajkumar’s second son would also follow in the footsteps of his illustrious family and get into showbiz. For this, he changed his name from Guru Rajkumar to Yuvarajkumar and a period film called Yuva Ranadheera Kanteera was announced as his launchpad. The film, though, did not take off and it was later revealed that Hombale Films, the banner that began its filmi journey with Puneeth Rajkumar and went on to make three movies with him, would take on the responsibility of launching Yuva.
Seen as the next in line to carry the mantle left behind by the late Power Star, Yuvarajkumar already has a mass following and his debut comes with crazy levels of anticipation and expectation. Hombale Films just announced the title of his debut, which is simply called Yuva, and that it would be in theatres on December 22, 2023. Fans who had been waiting eagerly for the title reveal, are thrilled. The title reveal teaser they say is “impressive”, with everyone saying in unison, “Puneeth’s first film was Appu, Yuvarajkumar’s is Yuva”. The overwhelming sentiment was one of satisfaction with the teaser, the title and Yuvarajkumar himself, with netizens opining that the actor is in safe hands with director Santhosh Ananndram. Ajaneesh Lokanath’s background score got a mix of love and hate, though, with some also wondering why the colour scheme was relatively dark and reminiscent of the Prashant Neel universe.
A few thought that Santhosh could have done better, given that his last film with Puneeth was Yuvaratna and that Shivarajkumar has a 2001 film called Yuvaraja. Yuva is not only the actor’s name, but also a part of the title of the period film that was to be his debut initially, so, some netizens thought that the eventual title lacked originality.
