Yesterday, we had shared a news report stating that an arrest warrant had been issued against Bollywood actress Zareen Khan. This was in connection with an alleged cheating case, in which it was stated that the actress had agreed to attend a Durga pooja in the year 2018. But, when she failed to be present at the said event, a case against her had got filed in the same year by the organisers of the said event. As per a news report in India Today, it had been stated that the required chargesheet of the said case had been submitted by the IO (Investigating Officer) against Zareen Khan in Kolkata’s Sealdah court.

The latest update on the said case is that, Zareen Khan’s advocate Rizwan Siddiquee has now issued a statement in this regard. In a media statement (which he termed as ‘press note’) issued by Rizwan Siddiquee on behalf of Zareen Khan, stated that “I, for and on behalf of my client Ms. Zareen Khan, would like to categorically place on record as under: That any warrant “inadvertently issued” by the Ld. Magistrate against my client, grossly appears to be a result of “some miscommunication”, as my client had on a continuous basis, been given protection by the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, in the said matter.”

The said press note also stated that “That, on the contrary, the complainant after having received service of the Quashing Application filed by my client in the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, “has been continuously avoiding further service in the said matter”. Needless to add that their wilful acts, clearly suggest that they understand the fate of their “untenable criminal complaint”, therefore such behaviour.

The said note, which Rizwan Siddiquee was referring to as ‘press note’ was a two-page note of the media statement, which he had posted on social media. He captioned the same as “All media persons, are required to note that the warrant "inadvertently" issued by the Magistrate against my client @zareen_khan will be dealt with, "on merits" as already detailed in my press note. Please do read "my press note" to understand the correct facts of the matter”.
