Streaming platform ZEE5 has been aggressive in its approach to acquiring big-scale films from the very beginning of the year regardless of language. While it managed to stick to the Eid date with Salman Khan's Radhe, simultaneously releasing it on OTT platforms and in theatres, it managed to garner immense attention for bagging the streaming rights for the Friends Reunion episode in India. And later, it went onto bag the digital rights for all the South Indian languages of SS Rajamouli's historic fiction RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles. Now, it is in talks to acquire the streaming rights for two major pan-Indian releases, Prabhas' Radhe Shyam and Vijay Deverakonda's Liger.

Though the makers of Liger don't have any interest in the direct-to-OTT offer made by ZEE5, the ZEE group may acquire the entire rights of the film - satellite, distribution, digital at a fancy price (like it did for Radhe). The talks have entered the final stages and if it's okayed, team Liger is expected to be in a financially safe zone with their offer. Similarly, reports have surfaced that ZEE also made a direct-to-OTT offer to the Radhe Shyam team (and that Prabhas has rejected the same). One may not know how much truth is there in the matter, but it appears certain the ZEE5 will bag the post-theatrical streaming rights of the multi-generational romance.
