Vikrant Massey: My character in 14 Phere is just like a ‘guy next door’

OTT platform ZEE5 has released the much-awaited trailer of Vikrant Massey’s 14 Phere that also stars Kriti Kharbanda. The upcoming comedy-drama tells the story of a couple who get married twice. The film also features Gauahar Khan, Vineet Kumar, Yamini Das and Jameel Khan in significant roles.

The trailer starts with Vikrant and Kriti’s college life, where the duo falls in love. After graduation, the romantic jodi moves in together. They decide to get married but know that their family won’t ever allow it. So they hire a couple of people to act like their parents to meet their respective families and to get a 'go ahead' for the marriage.

In a virtual conference, the makers launched the trailer of 14 Phere amidst the presence of the entire cast and crew on Monday. Talking about the lead actors and their roles in the film, the director Devanshu Singh said at the event, “In Vikrant’s character I see myself, who is from Bihar and loves his family. I wanted a spontaneous and vibrant character for the female lead like Kriti is in real life. Sometimes, she used to make her lines on the spot on set, which was phenomenal.”

Devanshu thanked Zee5 for releasing both of his films, the earlier project being his directorial debut film Chintu Ka Birthday that starred Vinay Pathak and Tillotama Shome.

Talking about his character Sanju, Vikrant revealed that portraying a character like him was not very difficult because he was just a ‘guy next door’, much like him in real life. “I’m also from a middle-class family like Sanju but thankfully my situation has never been like him. But, the fun of it is to portray something that you’ve never done before and to convince yourself for that as well. All thanks to the makers for leading us with such a great story,” the Haseen Dillruba actor added.

The film premieres on ZEE5 this July 23.
