ZEEL’s Vibha Chopra joins Amazon Prime Video in new role

Vibha Chopra, Head-Global Syndication and International Film Distribution at Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL), has quit the organisation to join Amazon Prime Video. Chopra will be taking up a content acquisition role at Amazon Prime Video after a seven-year stint at ZEEL.

At her former company, Chopra was successful in developing the company’s overseas film and content syndication businesses. Announcing her departure from ZEEL in a LinkedIn post, she wrote, “The achievements by my team at ZEE Studios International of building it from scratch to the No. 1 international distributor of Indian films across the world will always be cherished. I am thankful to my seniors Amit Goenka and Punit Goenka who trusted me enough to give me different portfolios, the latest being the opportunity to launch TVOD.”

Chopra took charge as the head of film acquisition and distribution business at ZEEL in 2016. In 2019, she was entrusted to the additional responsibility of leading the global content licensing division. This included Zee’s premium television content portfolio of more than 260,000 hours of programming and its worldwide movie library.

Announcing the start of her journey at Amazon Prime Video, Chopra expressed that she is looking forward to the new task. “There comes a time when you want to reinvent yourself. And with that in mind, I’m thrilled to announce that I have joined Amazon Prime Video, India. I’m super excited for this new chapter in my life and looking forward to an exciting journey with this global organisation,” she wrote.

Before ZEEL, Chopra worked with TAM Media and India TV as a marketing manager.
