Avatar 2 has been in the making for a long time, and now Zoe Saldana has shared how she was emotional after watching 20-minutes worth of footage from the new film.

The actor is returning to the franchise as Neytiri alongside Sam Worthington's Jake Sully.

Saldana told Kevin McCarthy of People that she was "speechless" and "moved to tears" when she watched the footage last year. "It’s definitely a leap from the first Avatar, so you have to brace yourself for it. It’s going to be an adventure you won't forget," said the actor.

James Cameron, who is behind the Avatar sequels, has been working on the films simultaneously. These films have faced multiple delays due to technical issues and even the pandemic, but Avatar 2 is expected to hit theatres this December, according to Screen Rant

Saldana also spoke about the underwater scenes, something that Cameron has spent years trying to perfect. Previously, 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell had told The Hollywood Reporter that Avatar 2 will "blow people away" and "you’re not ready for what Jim is doing."

Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Giovanni Ribisi are also returning for the sequel. They will be joined by Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis and Vin Diesel.

Meanwhile, Saldana's recent release is Netflix film The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo. She's also a part of an untitled project David O Russell film and will return to the Guardians of Galaxy franchise as Gamora.
