Fahadh Faasil’s acting career has had a ‘McConaissance’ moment, not once but twice. After a disastrous debut in the 2002 romantic movie Kaiyethum Doorath, with much criticism aimed at his performance, he took a seven-year hiatus from the field and later returned to acting in the anthology movie Kerala Cafe. His comeback did not go unnoticed as critics appreciated his performances in the movies Chaapa Kurish and 22 Female Kottayam.

Faasil selected his scripts with a keen eye and often appeared as unconventional characters such as a deranged man who believes his wife to be not human in the 2011 movie Akam and as an arrogant artist who becomes blind in Artist, which came out in 2013 – a significant year in his career. The year saw the release of some of his most critically acclaimed movies which include the romance tragedy Annayum Rasoolum and the musical Amen. With the success of the 2013 movie Oru Indian Pranayakatha, Fahadh Faasil established himself n the industry.

His experimentation in selecting scripts did not work out in 2015 and many prophesied an end to his shortlived rejuvenation of his career. However, he bounced back with his collaboration with Dileesh Pothan in the movies Maheshinte Prathikaaram in 2016 and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum in 2017. A frequent collaborator of Dileesh Pothan, he also portrayed the titular character in the crime drama Joji in 2021.

With the increase in the availability of Malayalam movies with the popularity of OTT platforms, Faasil’s performances soon received nationwide acclaim and his appearances in the 2019 drama movie Kumbalangi Nights as well as in Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Tamil directorial Super Deluxe also helped him achieve success across the nation.

Despite working alongside a legend like Kamal Haasan in Vikram, Fahadh Faasil managed to steal almost the entire show with his portrayal of the covert agent Amar. In 2023, he appeared in Maamannan which is directed by Maari Selvaraj.
