The first Academy Awards ceremony, popularly known as the Oscars, was broadcast by radio in 1930. A significant number of things have changed since its inception 93 years ago. The Academy Awards, once seen as a solely Hollywood affair, gradually opened doors to foreign films, with Parasite, a Korean film, becoming the first foreign film to win the Oscar for Best Picture in 2020.
