Vikram is one of the most decorated actors in South India, with awards including seven Filmfare Awards South, a National Film Award, and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
He debuted with En Kadhal Kanmani (1990) but earned wider critical acclaim for diverse roles of disadvantaged people in Kasi (2001), Samurai (2002) and Pithamagan (2003)
His latest film, Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1is based on the book of the same name and is directed by Mani Ratnam. It also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayram Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Shobhita Dhulipala.
