Be Dune Teen review: A Marathi series that you can stream only for some drama and entertainment

Be Dune Teen review: While Kshitish Date and Shivani Rangole do perform fairly well for their roles, the series as a whole is only a passable watch with not much to add.

Be Dune Teen Story:

A couple who struggles with their lives are now expecting triplets. Find out what kind of chaos unfolds in their life soon after the revelation.

Be Dune Teen Review:

Be Dune Teen is a series that commences with a mystery. The idea is rather misleading, since the series tries to reel on light comedy instead. With that, the story begins. A pregnant wife goes missing, leaving her husband worried. He is so worried that he reported that four people have gone missing, whereas in reality, it is just his wife, who is expected to have triplets, that has gone missing. The unfolding of that is subtly funny.

The story begins with Kshitish Date's Abhay. The theme of the series turns from mystery to comedy. The jokes land but not as smoothly as you would expect them to otherwise.

Shivani Rangole's story begins in flashback. Her character, Neha, is introduced as a woman who keeps a strong front but is in constant panic mode. As an actress, Shivani is rather a natural fit when it comes to such a character.

Together, they make for a couple that is stuck in survival mode. As they succumb to the pressure of raising a single child, they unexpectedly become parents to three. Their reaction is everything. Both of them laugh through their pain in unique ways, and this approach works well for their characters.

The story unfolds slowly but is still engaging enough to keep you watching. The theme switches from funny to cute as the couple navigates their journey to parenthood and matures together.

A movie tribute in the series is rather a surprise that stays back with you. Just as the fun continues, the series explores the generation gap beautifully. The couple's cold war moment is one of the biggest highlights of the series. The cold war leading to a full-fledged fight is predictable but still works. The end, especially, is rather adorable.

The series works for its simplicity. It touches upon the age-old male vs female perspective. There isn't anything new to offer in the third episode, but it is not a complete disappointment either.

The semi-finale episode touches upon the much-debated work-life balance. The message of the series finally becomes clear. It is about an independent woman's journey when she realises how dependent she has become on her husband. Her condition places various restrictions on her, putting her in a helpless position and causing friction. The scene unfurls beautifully, especially through Shivani's eyes and body language. Minutes later though, the dramatization of the fight, especially the inclusion of the song, goes against the storyline.

The end of Be Dune Teen is not what you expected it to be. In fact, after coming so far, the editors goof up with uneven effects. The transition between scenes is not perfect, and it shows, thus distracting you from the story. The ending twist is unexpected, but it doesn't change that Be Dune Teen is incomplete.

Be Dune Teen Verdict:

Directed by Atharva Soundankar and Himanshu Pile, Be Dune Teen is something you can watch if you have nothing else to do over the weekend. It is not the best series ever, nor is it a total disappointment. You can give it a try for some relatable and slightly entertaining Indian content.
