In the first season, women go missing from a remote area of the Repalle forest, throwing the village into chaos. Constable Kanakam (Varsha Bollamma) takes charge of the investigation, which turns personal when her close friend Chandrika disappears. Season 2 picks up with Kanakam uncovering crucial leads as former critics rally behind her. Who is behind the crimes? Where is Chandrika? and will Kanakam crack the case? Stream the show here on OTTplay Premium to find out.
Though Season 1 had a gripping story, the narrative lacked proper thrills, with very few standout moments. Director Prashanth Kumar Dimmala has taken this feedback seriously and made Season 2 more engaging, emotion-driven, and packed with twists and turns.
While the first season focused largely on world-building, Season 2 shifts gears by effectively showcasing the people behind the crimes, the investigative setup, and the manner in which the case unfolds.
One of the major strengths of Season 2 is its pacing, as there is no lag in the proceedings. The makers have ensured that no scenes feel unnecessary or are added merely to stretch the narrative. The core conflict surrounding the missing cases and the way they are resolved is handled effectively.

Constable Kanakam, who is cowardly by nature yet ends up becoming a cop, is given more depth this season. While her arc felt underdeveloped in Season 1, the director adds more edge to her character by smartly weaving the supporting cast into the narrative and interlacing their performances with Varsha Bollamma’s role.
However, the real turning point of the season is Chandrika’s backstory. The twists her character brings to Season 2 are superbly executed and narrated in a gripping manner.

The icing on the cake is Megha Lekha’s performance as Chandrika, which adds significant weight to the narrative. That said, Season 2 does have a few drawbacks. There was scope to explore the thriller elements in greater depth, but in an effort to keep the series crisp, the director wraps it up rather quickly. As a result, some characters feel underdeveloped, especially Srinivas Avasarala’s, who has limited screen time and leaves little impact.
Coming to the performances, Varsha Bollamma is an apt choice for the lead role. While she appeared somewhat naïve in Season 1, she emerges as a confident and commanding presence in Season 2. Her emotional range, confidence, and daring attitude are showcased beautifully.

Suchitra Ananda gets a strong role and stands out as one of the highlights of the show. Rajeev Kanakala delivers a solid supporting performance, and the rest of the cast does a decent job.
Suresh Bobbili’s background score is another major plus, effectively elevating the suspense and intensity. The production values of Constable Kanakam deserve special mention, as they are consistently impressive. The visuals reflect the money spent on the show, with top-notch cinematography and sharp editing. The dialogues, production design, and casting are also commendable.

From a script perspective, there isn’t anything entirely new on offer. However, the tight narrative, well-executed thrills, and a satisfying conclusion, while clearly setting the stage for Season 3, make a significant difference.
Overall, Constable Kanakam Season 2 is a marked improvement over its predecessor. While the storyline remains straightforward, the crisp runtime, strong performances, and gripping investigative sequences make it a worthwhile watch this weekend.
