What’s it about:

This short film follows a strange family tradition, in which Nakul and his soon-to-be wife, Pihu, must ride home on an ancestral scooter after their wedding. The film stresses the importance of traditions and how they bring families together.

What’s hot:

The new generation often ends up breaking several stereotypes by the way they live their lives. Although this is a good thing and one of the reasons society is changing, certain traditions are lost because of the same. This short film emphasizes exactly that.

When Pihu hears about the odd tradition she is expected to adhere to, her immediate response is disagreement. She wonders what her friends and family will think of her, as the scooter is in bad shape. She does everything she can to avoid having to follow the tradition, so much so that when the beloved scooter disappears, Nakul assumes she has stolen it.

The film also highlights how much sentimental value individuals attach to inanimate objects. It also shows us that ancestral objects that may seem outdated and shabby have an emotional story to tell. In the film, using this object to enter the gates of the house was also, in some way, a right of passage and an act of welcoming the newly married couple home.

In the end, Pihu’s willingness to put her childhood fear of scooters aside and ride it back to Nakul’s house speaks volumes of her love for him and his family.

What not:

The film may seem a tad bit fast-paced to some, but the storyline is easy to follow.

This must-watch takes viewers through a range of emotions in a short span of time with its tight sequence of events. This makes it an engaging and entertaining watch.
