Story:

Gauri Waghmare (Bhumi Pednekar), Govinda Waghmare (Vicky Kaushal), and Suku (Kiara Advani) are the three main characters in the story of Govinda Naam Mera. Gauri is Govinda's cruel wife and dislikes him to the core. On the other hand, Suku and Govinda are choreographers and are in love (in an extra marital affair, of course). One fine day in the middle of this rukkus, a big plot is hatched that causes everyone's life to drastically change.

Review:

The movie's story is not complicated. Gauri is content in her own world despite knowing about Govinda's affair in the movie. She spends much of her time relaxing, taking care of her skin, chatting up the maid, and forcing Govinda to work hard for their daily bread. Govinda is constantly irritated at home because his cruel wife mistreats him, but he is completely different and happy when he is with Suku.

Shashank Khaitan, who also wrote and directed the incredible films Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya, is the writer and director of Govind Naam Mera. All I can say is that with this one, he seems to have lost the charm of comic timing and a compelling plot. The movie makes you chuckle, but despite carrying the label "romantic comedy," it falls short of your expectations. Despite having an amazing cast, it was unable to have the impact it should have.

The movie's climax, however, is completely unanticipated and excellent. You will be astounded by the unexpected turn the movie takes. I wonder how engaging the movie would have been to watch if that level of excitement had persisted. Additionally, the movie could have been far shorter than 2 hours and 11 minutes. Both the editing by Charu Shree Roy and the cinematography by Vidushi Tiwari are commendable.

The movie's climax is its best aspect. We're not at all complaining that the romantic comedy feels like it's morphing into a suspenseful thriller. It is true to say that the film's brilliant conclusion in a way saved this sinking ship.

Speaking of the performances, Govinda is a breath of fresh air after seeing Vicky Kaushal in an intense role in URI. He does his part sincerely. His character is occasionally made boring by the script and comedic (or, should I say, non-funny) conversations, but overall he does a great job.

The role that Bhumi Pednekar plays here is one that she excels at. Although the amount of rage she has displayed on film in each of her previous roles seems monotonous, she does a good job in this one.

Suku, played by Kiara Advani, is a driven woman who will stop at nothing to climb the ladder and earn more money. She portrays her role with ease and looks stunning.

Renuka Shahane as Govinda's mother excels in her character. Amey Wagh, Truti Khamkar and Dayanand Shetty and their comic timings are cherry on the cake.

Verdict:

Govinda Naam Mera is a hilarious movie that offers more than just your typical comedy. The film is entertaining to watch because of the humorous timing, hilarious dialogue, and fantastic performances by the lead cast.
