Ithiri Neram Story - Anish gets an unexpected call from Anjana, his ex-lover who is in town, when he is travelling to a long-awaited drinking party with two buddies. An evening of rekindled feelings and tough decisions is set in motion by the choice they made to meet.
Ithiri Neram Review - At first glance, the movie looks like a Malayalam adaptation of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha's 96, but it also delves deeper into friendships and stereotypical mindset of our society. Ithiri Neram hits the right chord being movie about broken hearts and difficult choices that led to the separation of two lovers giving a fulfilling sense of catharsis to the viewers.
A day before his daughter's baptism, Anish is heading to a long-overdue drinking party at work with two friends at work. Anjana, his ex-girlfriend, unexpectedly calls him that same day to ask if they might meet before she decides to move to the US. Their choice to get together prepares them for an evening spent reflecting on their tough choices and trying to find closure.
Prasanth Vijay's Ithiri Neram examines the intricate dynamics of love and confusing friendships against the backdrop of a society that is rigid in terms of gender stereotypes. The movie reminds you of your faults and emotional wounds while taking you on a sentimental journey of meeting someone who meant a lot to you after years. It does take some time to gradually reveal all of the character's beautiful times so that the audience can empathise with them at every turn.
The film also examines how the majority of people in our culture have preconceived notions about a man and woman who have a strong bond without providing a socially acceptable explanation for their relationship. In one scene, an automobile driver asks these two inebriated people if they are from Technopark, where the majority of young people, particularly IT professionals, work.
As Anish and Anjana, Roshan Mathew and Zarin Shihab are flawless, providing the plot with the appropriate emotional graphs. In the meantime, Anand Manmadhan and Nandu both give convincing performances. Basil C. J.'s music is another positive feature of Ithiri Neram. Among other issues, the main drawback is its long duration, which might occasionally cause you to veer off course.
Ithiri Neram Verdict - Roshan Mathew and Zarin Shihab give this romantic drama life, rekindling love and nostalgia among the audience.
