In the city of Visakhapatnam, several young women are mysteriously found dead, and all clues lead to fake identities. NIA officer Jishnu(Shatru) begins investigating while a suspended constable, played by Brahmaji, also starts digging for answers. The rest of the story follows how these officers uncover the truth and stop a dangerous spy ring threatening the nation.
Karmanye Vadhikaraste is written and directed by Amardeep Charlapalli and features Brahmaji, Shatru, and Master Mahendran in the lead roles. The investigative thriller has a decent premise and is narrated well for the most part.
The manner in which the conflict of girls getting killed and all their identities being fake is showcased in a gripping manner in the beginning. This sets up the tone of the film for a proper thriller, but once this happens, the pace slows down.
As the director opts for a commercial narration and introduces other characters, the kick in the proceedings goes missing. If the director had stuck to the investigative mood of the film, the effect would have been different altogether.

Yet another drawback of the film is the motive of the person behind killing these girls. Though there is a huge network behind, their objective does not come through properly on screen.
However, the manner in which the external forces land people in India through fake identities has been showcased well. The whole concept of infiltration has been showcased on a gripping note. There is a massive twist ahead of the climax, and this has been handled well.
Coming to the performances, Shatru gets an interesting role in the film. All these days, he was seen in negative roles, but here in this film, he does well as a cop. His physique, screen presence, and dialogue delivery are top-notch and suit the mood of the film.

After a long gap, Brahmaji gets a good role and does well in his character. One gets a feeling that he should do more serious roles going ahead, as he has been confined to only comic roles. His look and performance as a cop look fresh. Master Mahendran also gets a good role and is very good. With each film, he is improving and making his presence felt. The rest of the cast was ordinary.
The camerawork could have been a lot better, as the visuals are not that gripping. The lack of quality in a few key scenes is clearly visible. The runtime and editing are decent, but the production design should have been better.
The dialogues, action, and thrills are passable. Karmanye Vadhikaraste has decent thrills in both halves, but the presence of lag in several scenes pins the film back many a time. The emotional depth is also missing in a few episodes in the second half. If you ignore these aspects, Karmanye Vadhikaraste is a film that has passable thrills that engage you.
On the whole, Karmanye Vadhikaraste is a new-age cop thriller that manages to impress in bits and pieces. The thrills are okay, and the backdrop is neat. If you ignore the slightly predictable storyline, you can give the film a shot this weekend.
