Laggam Time Story

Surya (Rajesh Meru), a young professional in Pune, falls for Ananya (Navya Chityala) under unusual circumstances. Later, they end up working together at the same workplace. Just when their bond begins to grow, Ananya suddenly cuts off all contact, leaving Surya confused. On the day of her wedding to another man, a series of unexpected events disrupts everything, setting off a race against time to see if fate will reunite them.

Laggam Time Review

Laggam Time is written and directed by Prajoth K. Vennam, and he chooses the evergreen theme of whether destiny will reunite lovers who part ways after facing several issues. The film is a situational romantic drama that has its moments. Though the basic theme is quite routine, the manner in which it has been narrated on a lighter note is what makes things look interesting.

Director Prajoth adds the angle of vigilantes to greenlight the love story, and this aspect has not been tried much in Telugu cinema. That is the reason the initial few minutes of Laggam Time are quite engaging.

Once this is done, the two leads meeting as office colleagues is also thought out well. However, the manner in which the main lead flirts with the heroine makes the romantic drama look a bit routine. The romance also looks a bit forced in many scenes.

Laggam Time, as the title suggests, is about a wedding, and most of the story happens during the marriage of the female lead. How parents are involved and how the hero tries hard to leave a mark are showcased in a passable manner. There are also a few lighthearted moments of romance that will keep you engaged.

One also gets a feeling that the new cast struggles a bit initially to get things right, but director Prajoth makes things interesting with whatever content he has and keeps things light. The whole kidnapping of the bridegroom episode has been planned well, though it drags a bit.

The entire first half of the film mostly has wedding scenes, and they keep you engaged to an extent, though they are routine. The director has kept the entire story and plot twists for the second half. Things start on a dull note in the second half, but the twists showcased are neat.

On the other hand, one also gets a feeling that the emotional turmoil that the characters go through in the film, despite being in tense situations, is not that strong. There was a lot of scope for the drama to be elevated, but that does not happen as the climax looks a bit forced. As too much concentration is laid on making the film thrilling, the emotional angle takes a backseat.

Coming to the performances, Rajesh Meru plays the main lead, and though he is new, he does well to hold our attention. Navya Chityala is also good in her role. She gets an important character and holds her emotions well.

But it is the noted comedian Sudharshan who does very well in his role. He brings the house down with satirical comedy, especially in the first half. Though there is not much story during this time, Sudharshan’s comedy makes things lively. Praneeth Reddy and Arun Kumar are good in their respective roles.

Pavan has composed the music, and his songs are decent. Pawan Guntuku has shot the film well. The film is set in two backdrops, an office and a wedding event. So, it is a challenge to showcase the same locations engagingly, and Pawan scores full marks. Laggam Time is one of those films that has romance, drama, and comedy in equal doses. However, there is nothing new showcased here.

Laggam Time Verdict

On the whole, Laggam Time is a wedding-day drama that has passable comedy. However, the film misses out on core emotional highs and is meant for those who love lighthearted popcorn entertainers.
