Story:

Latika and Palash plan to loot banks in order to recover the loan amount and save their only house. This is, till one day, there is a real loot and things go haywire. How will they handle it all?

Review:

"Sahi disha bhuvan mein aur sach itihas mein milta hai," is not just a dialogue. It is where the makers hinted Loot Kaand is heading.

Dated back in 1995 in Purulia, the story begins with an airplane followed by a forest setting, probably to show the different sides of India. It is from the gun loot that our story actually commences.

In what seems like a brighter future, we see Tanya Maniktala's Latika trying to help India reach greater heights. Little could you guess what would happen if you wouldn't know where the story will eventually head. But, since the trailer is already out and we know her character, there's little left for surprise. Her breakdown scene, while valid, is not as impactful as expected.

Same is the case with Sahil Mehta's Palash, who is introduced as the man pushed to his limits. He, however, ends up being the mastermind on the show as much.

The real story begins when the siblings finally unite. Of course, they have hit their lowest, leading to desperate measures.

Although the storyline plays a tease time-and-again, it doesn't connect. The parallel between soccer and the loot is interesting but not up to the mark.

Gyanendra Tripathi's Pinaki ends up playing an important role. He impresses with his introduction scene itself, and it continues throughout. The way a crucial scene connects to his character, is one that comes full circle. The end, where his character takes a turn, is something you expect but he nails the scene.

The circus scene is more heartbreaking than surprising. Using a child for 'tricks' works against the show. Better late than never, thus finally, the makers try to correct the harm done. Then comes a twist nobody saw coming. This changes the whole story.

Some scenes on the show are unbearable because of how raw and intense they are. Despite that, the series is not a bad one. Further, there are some unexpectedly funny moments too.

The story gets too intense and intriguing after a point. It is the beginning of a gang war you barely saw coming.

This one goes off-track more often than not. Furthermore, there's more verbal fighting than an actual intriguing storyline.

There's a big revelation towards the end of the series. This hint could have changed the storyline but is not even touched upon. Many such secrets crop up, turning Loot Kaand into a Mahabharat of its own. Of course, it's not as epic, not yet, at least.

Verdict:

Loot Kaand takes time but gets interesting in bits-and-pieces. While it is not a series that demands all of your attention, this one can be streamed because of its cliffhanger endings.
