Story:
Love In The Times of Corona is a compilation of short stories with love as the central theme. Set in the era of COVID-19, the lead characters try to figure out love among them or people they know.
Review:
Love In The Times of Corona is a story that is all about matters of the heart. Indrani Ray, who has written and directed all three short films, captures the essence of relationships in her stories beautifully almost every time.
The film has two male leads - Nirvik Singh (Shekhar Ravjiani) and Sen (Adil Hussain) - singing in Bengali while reflecting on their love life. We all know how the language is sweet and thus, the scenes of casual crooning surely warm up the heart.
The film begins with August: A Short Hello, a short that will take you back to the golden era when silence and monochrome were our life. Kudos to Indranil for managing to bring out the message so beautifully.
A Short Hello, however, is a wasted opportunity for Dipannita Sharma. She could have proven her potential much more as an actress but barely gets the opportunity in this one.
On the other hand, Indranil has missed the whole point in February: Dinner In Lockdown. He tries to convey a beautiful message but manages to tell very little within the limited duration.
Shekhar Ravjiani is an absolute delight in the short film. Shibani Dandekar, however, simply tries to fit in, when with him in the same frame.
September: Tea and a Rose, starring Natasha Rastogi and Adil Hussain as Mrs Khan and Mr Sen respectively, is quite a catch. The way their relationship progresses is quite cute.
While Adil Hussain is adorable throughout, the scene where he sports a heartfelt smile in the middle of the road touches your heart. Often seen in serious roles, this one is quite a change for him as an actor. It is, of course, a welcome change and one that suits him too.
Verdict:
From the feeling of happiness to experiencing the warmth of being with someone, Love In The Times of Corona is an out-and-out feel-good film that seldom doesn't but mostly gets its message right. While A Short Hello and Dinner In Lockdown are a one-time watch, Tea and a Rose merit multiple viewings.
