Mithra Mandali Story

Chaitanya (Priyadarshi), Satvik (Vishnu Oi), Abhi (Rag Mayur), and Rajeev (Prasad Behera) are close friends who have no big aims in life. One fine day, Satvik and Abhi fall in love with Swecha (Niharika NM), who is the daughter of a powerful politician. Chaitanya decides to help the two in love, but little does he know that all this will land him and his friends in big trouble. How all this pans out is the basic story of the film.

Mithra Mandali Review

Mithra Mandali has been directed by Vijayender S, and at the beginning of the film, there is a voiceover that says there is not much of a story in the film. This itself gives you an idea of where the film is headed. The basic idea of the makers was to cast seasoned comedians, work on a few scenes, and put a story in between.  The same was the case with Jathi Ratnalu, and it clicked big time because of its situational comedy and solid acting. But here in Mithra Mandali, things fall flat as the comedy does not land properly.

Apart from a few jokes created for Satya's character, the rest of the film falls flat. The characters do not have a purpose, and it is like seeing a bunch of seasoned comedians overacting for no reason. The punches fail to evoke any laughter, and one wonders what Bunny Vas saw in this film that made him spend a lot of money to release it on his own.

The second half, in particular, is a huge mess and does not have anything going its way. The editing is pathetic, and the dragged scenes make you look at the exit door. One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the screenplay, which fails to click whatsoever. The director fails to engage the audience, and his idea of a few comedy scenes with proper punches at regular intervals backfires big time in the film.

Niharika NM IN Mithra Mandali

Mithra Mandali is a film that needs to set its tone right from the first scene itself. But the plot is so thin that there is nothing much that can be done. The trailers are cut in such a way that the best scenes have been added to the trailer, and the rest do not make any sense.

Priyadarshi plays the main lead, and he is okay. His role is that of a sheet anchor, and he does well. Vishnu Oi is getting better with each film and gives an okay performance. Rag Mayur is neat but overacts for no reason. All this has happened due to the director's vision, which falls flat.

Niharika NM makes an impressive Telugu debut. She has screen presence, dialogue delivery, and confidence. But the role is so bland that she does not get much scope to perform. Satya, the seasoned comedian, is the only solace in the film. He is presented through a special character and entertains. It is only when he is on screen that the film makes some sense, but the rest of it is bland.

RR Dhruvan's songs and BGM are good, but the camerawork is not that great. The production values are also not that impressive. The dialogues are okay, but the production design, narration, and comedy chosen do not click one bit.

Mithra Mandali is that kind of film that was supposed to entertain despite having no story, relying on basic and simple new-age comedy, but that does not happen, and it fails to create an impact. The humor feels forced, the emotions do not connect, and the writing lacks the spark needed to keep the audience engaged. Despite its promising cast and a few enjoyable moments, the film struggles to find its rhythm.

Mithra Mandali Verdict

On the whole, Mithra Mandali is a new-age comedy that falls flat with its narrative, screenplay, and has only chaos written all over it. If you have watched the trailer, you can easily skip the film as there is not much shown in the film beyond what is there in the promos. A disappointing fare.
