Story:

The latest episode of the popular drama, My Liberation Notes is about Mi-jeong trying to break free from the shackles of her daily life. It further explores her character and Mr Gu's. The problems faced by the Yeom family also form a major focus in the new episode.

Review:

The new episode explores the character of Mr Gu more, showing flashes of his life from the past, piquing the interest of the viewers even more. Mi-jeong's Liberation Club also becomes the talk in the office as her colleagues wonder what the club is about. She holds the first meeting with her two members despite bad weather with all the thundering and lightning. Unlike her colleagues who are scared and uncomfortable due to the loud thunders, she finds peace in them. She is the only one who looks calm while the entire office is shivering in fear due to the storm. Her calm face with a sly smile makes her look like a misfit in the environment that she is in.

The episode further explores the Yeom family and their problems. When Chang-Hee fears that he could lose his promotion, he takes a while to come to terms with it and have a conversation with his store owner, Byeon Sang-Mi. This bothers his father who gets irritated that Chang-Hee does not seem to be taking his career seriously. The two have an argument when he asks what his future plans are. Chang-Hee walks out of the house in the middle of their meal. The way he later tells his friend that he should have at least finished the meal as he is very hungry and goes back home, and changes the TV channel to some sports to lighten his father's mood who was watching the news, are quite adorable. So is his fight with his sister Gi-jeong. The fight between the siblings and arguments with parents remind one of their own dysfunctional family.

Mi-jeong loses her cool after she gets hit by a slipper that Gi-Jeong throws at Chang-Hee during their fight and she throws the slipper out of the house. Chang-Hee looks cute when he asks why did she throw his slipper when Gi-Jeong is the one who threw it at her. Later, he tells his new friend, Mr Gu that Mi-jeong has a temper.

The idea and the first meeting of Mi-jeong's Liberation Club are also quite interesting. The three are seen sitting beside each other and talking their hearts out, looking at the rain drizzling down the window of the cafe. Mi-jeong later walks into Mr Gu's house and asks why is he angry all the time. Pissed at her, he walks out of his house. The flashes of his life in the past are shown without revealing anything much. It makes viewers even more curious than before to find out about him.

Despite being aloof, the way he cares for her and her family is beautiful. It shows his human side to otherwise his 'as***le' character that he claims himself to be. Gi-jeong meets her school friend and turns out, the guy from the restaurant and Mi-jeong's colleague Tae-Hoon is her friend's brother. She develops a crush on him and tries to think of reasons not to think of him and spend sleepless nights.

The ending was a little weird and over the top. When Mi-jeong's hat flies off to the other side of the bridge during a picnic, Mr Gu takes charge, runs and jumps over the bridge to get her hat, leaving her and the entire family shocked. He remembers his conversation with Mi-jeong about worshipping her as he takes that jump, symbolically showing that he is ready to take a leap of faith and become a better version.

Verdict:

The show starts growing on you as it explores the characters deeper, giving more insights into their lives. It is thought-provoking.
