Nellikkampoyil Night Riders Review - Although Noufal Abdullah's directorial debut does not have too many distinctive elements, it is unquestionably a decent horror comedy. With an adequate mix of jump scares and humorous moments, the movie takes viewers to a fictional town with a lot of oddball characters and a masked intruder who is scary but not a vicious killer like the one in Detective Ujjwalan.

Many bizarre events happen in the small town of Nellikampoyil, where the residents—primarily eccentric and superstitious people—live in fear. They believe that a god-like entity Kooli protects them from evil forces, and many people say they have seen this spirit at night. An enigmatic apparition with a man's body and a horse's legs comes against Shyam, who has a phobia of darkness because he had a ghost encounter as a child. The main plot of the film revolves around Shyam and his friends' attempts to confront their worst fear and whether they will save their hometown.

There may be a few instances of humour in the movie that will make you chuckle for a while. However, it is questionable if it really elevates the film. Noufal explores how terror consumes oneself to some degree through a straightforward as well as simple plot that blends fiction and reality. The main character, Shyam, is unable to get over his dread one day when he is motivated by retaliation against a mysterious presence that assaulted the woman he loves. In the middle of his futile attempts to apprehend this invader, he is depicted as more vulnerable and afraid to confront his pain. The film benefits from Noufal's skill as an editor, which keeps it concise and lively. However eventually the plot becomes predictable.

Though it differs little from any of his prior roles, Mathew Thomas does appear plausible in the role of Shyam. In the meanwhile, there are plenty hilarious moments added by members of the supporting cast, including Abu Salim, Rony David Raj, Roshan Shanavas, and Sharath Sabha. Meenakshi Unnikrishnan has an impressive performance as well. The film's appealing nature is greatly enhanced by Neha S Nair and Yakson Gary Pereira's music.
