This is Nicole’s first Netflix special, is an hour-long show that justifies the 18+ rating with its highly sexual content.

Review: Comedienne and TV show host’s Nicole Byer’s got her first Netflix special, and although the ‘pandemie’, as she calls it, was the focal point, she threw in jokes about pretty much everything that made news in the last year or so. Of course, no American comedy show is complete without some sex talk and toilet humour and Nicole doesn’t skimp on that either.
Big Beautiful Weirdo is not exactly for a universal audience; most of Nicole’s punchlines are about stuff in the US of A that you can laugh at only if you are clued in to life/culture there, like, for instance, having to fill up the gas tank yourself in some states there. But there are some that come across nevertheless, especially the one about all her white friends texting her during the Black Lives Matters protests saying, they were there for her, should she have anything to discuss and that the only ones who didn’t were those she’d dated.
There are a bunch of outrageous jokes about Nicole’s personal, read sex, life, including one about it being ‘a two-shower job to shave her pu**y’. There’s a lot more on those lines and her sexual preferences. So, if you are the kind who gets squirmish at sexual jokes, don’t even try watching this special. It well and truly lives up to its 18+ rating.
The highlight of the special, for me, was when Nicole drew parallels between the KKK clan and the world of wizardry in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter universe. That was just spot on - JKKK Rowling!
Verdict: I was not familiar with Nicole or her brand of comedy and am not particularly enamored with sexual or toilet humour, so much of the special didn’t work for me. But if you enjoy tales about taking a sh*t, while also enjoying a burger, well, the show is streaming on Netflix now.
