Paap: Antim Pawrbo review - Puja Banerjee's show is gripping, surprising, gut-twisting

What's it about:

Continuing the journey from its 2019 release, Paap: Antim Pawrbo explores the various murders taking place inside the Choudhary house days before Durga Puja. Parboni (Puja Banerjee), who has entered the house after years, is the prime suspect in the killings.

What's hot:

The storyline, most definitely. Paap: Antim Pawrbo keeps you gripped and constantly guessing about the killer. It manages to take you by surprise in a few episodes too, since you do not anticipate some murders. The backstory, too, will tear you through your gut. As the mystery unfolds, you get a clearer picture but are still left in the dark till the very end. That is the beauty of the show.

While Puja Banerjee Verma as Parboni is the delicate doll you want to protect, Rahul Banerjee steals the show. He plays a cop with a distinct sense of humour that will keep you entertained through and through. The storyline also runs at a near-perfect pace so you are never bored through the series.

What's not:

Although Paap as a series is good, it could have been great. Even though it keeps you at the edge of your seat, there are small giveaways about the killer. The cinematography is a little disappointing at places but it does not hamper your viewing experience.

While Rahul built up the energy in the scenes, all others, except Puja, drained it out. Even if the show does not suffer at the hands of over-dramatization, some characters are borderline disappointing in a few scenes. In a crucial scene, Priyanka Mondal's character breaks into tears but you cannot empathize with her even if you wish to.

Final word:

You will want to come back to Paap: Antim Pawrbo, especially to watch Rahul. With the exception of a few scenes, Paap: Antim Pawrbo is a must-watch.
