Story:
College friends gather at Maya (Sohini Sarkar)'s house for a reunion. They all get killed one after another. What is the mystery around the haunted house? Is it really haunted?
Review:
Sohini Sarkar's latest series Rawkto Bilaap has a good concept which fails at the execution level. The series is predictable and dramatic all at the same time and very rarely, it intrigues you into knowing what will come up further.
Rawkto Bilaap sets the scary setting in the first few seconds. Sohini Sarkar in the role of Maya has a mystery around her too. Almost instantly, you get to know where the story is heading.
Kanchan Mullick's character Rafiq is introduced on the same lines. He is very uptight who says "It is so late at night, right?" but the actor says it in a way that leaves the mystery around his character.
The series has a very dramatic vibe some time into it, where it isn't needed. That is the first time you lose interest in the show.
Rawkto Bilaap sees a downfall from thereon at both the acting and execution level. Only Sohini and Kanchan's characters are the ones that make you want to see what the series has to offer further and even they tend to fail you at many places.
The concept of the series is interesting. Here, the people who have died, kill other people. Even if fictional, this story is humanity's worst nightmare. However, when the suspense is revealed, you aren't even surprised because it is nothing new either for the story or the character.
We see Sohini in a different look in the series. The scene works well for her character. As the series comes to an end, Kanchan's character shines brighter than Sohini's. Rawkto Bilaap manages to give you goosebumps at some places but that is just twice or thrice. All the other times, Rawkto Bilaap is just yawn.
Verdict:
Rawkto Bilaap has a good concept at the core but it fails at all other level. The actors, including Sohini and Kanchan, give a mediocre performance but what's worse is the execution of the plotline. While dramatic at many places, all the other times the show has nothing new or interesting to offer. It is better to skip this one.
