Surveillance is the overarching theme of the episode but where exactly is the rest of the story going?

Story: The four British guests staying in the same hotel as Leo Newman, son of media mogul Katherine Newman, have been put under the scanner by UK authorities. On the other hand, the real kidnappers have hacked made their cryptic demands to Katherine — tell the truth.
Review: After keeping the three suspects in holding for 24 hours, even gatecrashing a wedding for this, the National Crime Agency sets them free. But not without ensuring that an eagle eye is kept on their whereabouts.
This seemed quite odd and scary that people picked up by the cops on mere suspicion and later left without charges could be spied on secretly. Upon Googling, I discovered that the UK does have a provision called the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 that allows covert surveillance.
Moving on, the three — Aadesh (Kunal Nayyar), Tara (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Nat (Georgina Campbell) — are back home. However, their very public arrests have drawn an uneasy amount of attention towards them.
Tara is warned by a senior colleague that if media scrutiny on her increases, it will only bring shame to the college. A visit to her husband house is to no avail, as he refuses to let her meet their daughter. Meanwhile, Aadesh's father-in-law has to draw his business' shutters down early in the day after Aadesh is assailed by a shower of flashes and incessant questions from journos and conspiracy theory fans right outside the establishment. His wife Sonia seems to have lost all faith in him too. It's a grim picture so far. Nat's job seems in peril too but she's not too bothered but only determined to get those fat wads of cash out of her hands.
There's finally a little attempt to jumpstart the story with the inclusion of a fifth suspect. Not a surprise for the investigators to broaden their pool. Yet it makes no mention of whether the British and American investigation teams are working overtime to find the source of the threat video to Katherine.
Uma Thurman appears for a fleeting moment once again. Is she just there to just give the show's promotional material some movie star weight? Probably, for her character and the desperate concern of a mother whose child's in obvious peril still remains unexplored. Katherine is only painted as a distant figure so far. As far as Leo is concerned, no one seems bothered to track him down. Isn't finding the victim the foremost concern usually?
Verdict: By this third episode, there's just no motivation to continue with this show. There are far too many quality crime thriller series out there at this point and Suspicion does not seem to fit that bill.
