The 100 Story

IPS officer Vikranth(R K Sagar) takes charge as a top cop in Hyderabad. A young girl, Madhu (Vishnu Priya), commits suicide, and as Vikranth investigates the case, he discovers that another woman named Arthi (Misha Narang) has also faced similar issues and is on the verge of a breakdown. The cops realize that a major nexus is behind it all and devise a plan to nab the criminals. As they dig deeper, they uncover shocking truths behind the case. How they crack the mystery forms the basic plot of the film.

The 100 Telugu movie review

R.K. Sagar is one of the top stars on TV and makes a comeback as the main lead in a cop drama titled The 100. Raghav Omkar Sasidhar has written and directed this film, which showcases crime drama in a gripping manner. Though the trailer does not give out much, the narration by Raghav is decent.

The film starts on a gripping note with the character of Vishnu Priya committing suicide, and the way the cops go about the case using technology is showcased in a good way. One of the biggest assets of the film is the way the different cases are connected through different crimes, and how the cops are misled in their investigation.

The first half has decent thrills and showcases R.K. Sagar in an action-packed avatar. The best part of the film is the way action is not given too much hype, and the hero does not go overboard just for the sake of it. He lets his teammates take control and investigates realistically.

After setting up the story in the pre-interval scenes, the second half takes off on a different route and has some well-thought-out twists. The twists related to the heroine and how the cops find things out are showcased decently. As the runtime of the film is also crisp, the makers hardly get time to get distracted. The key episodes where the character of Thaarak Ponnappa is introduced are very good and elevate the drama even more.

Though the film gets predictable and one knows who the villain is by the end, his motive behind the crime and how his nexus goes through heinous crimes are showcased in a gripping manner.

Coming to the performances, R.K. Sagar looks and fits the cop role perfectly. His body language, agility in action episodes, and not going overboard in his role are showcased so well by the Mogali Rekulu star.

Misha Narang gets a very emotional role and does so well in her character. Her character goes through a lot of pain, and the young actor emotes quite well. Bigg Boss fame Vishnu Priya gets a meaty role and does surprisingly quite well. Though her voice has been dubbed, Vishnu Priya is good in her role.

Thaarak Ponnappa is very good in his key role and looks stylish. The way he goes about playing the modern-day villain suits the mood of the film perfectly. Harshvardhan Rameshwar of Animal fame has composed the music, and his BGM is top notch.

The production values of the film are top-notch, and there is not much scope for error. The editing is perfect, and the technology used by the cops is realistic and not over the top.

However, the screenplay should have been a bit better in the initial portions of the film. One feels things have been dragged for no reason before coming to the actual plot of the film. Apart from this, The 100 is surprisingly a decent film to watch, which also sends a strong social message about rape.

The 100 Verdict

On the whole, The 100 is a typical cop drama that has well-executed thrills. The emotional quotient works well, and the audience is engaged till the end. Though the film takes time to come to the actual point, once it does, it gives you decent entertainment.
