The Resident Season 5 Episode 10 review: Conrad’s on Chastain’s ‘Go Team’ with the mysterious Cade

Action kicks up several notches as Chastain upgrades to a Trauma Care Level 1 centre with a helicopter ambulance. While that is good news, the sad bit is that all’s not well with Dr Bell.

Story: Chastain is teaming up with Atlanta General for a Level 1 helicopter ambulance team and their first case has multiple trauma victims that keeps their ER and OR mighty busy.

Review: The Resident is heading into a mid-season break, but does so with an episode that was high on action, with almost no personal arcs for any of our favourite medical personnel. For starters, Kit Voss’ supreme administrative skills means that despite being a public sector hospital, Chastain has been upgraded to a Level 1 Trauma Care Center, inclusive of a Go Team that will head to emergency sites when paramedics cannot handle the first aid, or the patients need more intensive care before being shifted to a hospital. The go-to person for this, of course, is Conrad, who’s been on army tours, and handles high-stress situations well, along with new addition to the team, Kincaid Sullivan from Atlanta General, or Cade, for short.

Conrad is always brilliant, but Cade is one level above, a total bad-ass on the scene, although very little is known about her. She’s Cade to friend or foe alike and Conrad is mighty impressed with her ER skills. It appears she will be an interesting newbie to look out for, especially since Kit found her a bit evasive about her background, and Conrad and Devon couldn’t find out anything about on the world wide web either.

The episode was not only about the Go Team, though, with Devon and Trevor in the complete dark about what’s happening to their patient who has an unexplained fever that appears to be killing him. While they initially suspect his service dog, turns out, the patient, Jerome, never lets it out of a bag when out and about, ruling out chances of parasites. What gives then?

But the most important question of the hour is – what’s happening to Dr Bell. Our favourite surgeon is having all sorts of issues, but no clear indications of what could be ailing him. The good thing is that he is not operating and putting anyone else’s life on the line. And just when Conrad finally has the test results that could tell us what’s wrong, the episode ends. What?!

Verdict: This episode was a refreshing change from all the family and love drama of the team at Chastain. But the question now is whether Bruce Greenwood (Dr Bell) is also leaving the show.
