Review:
The short film, Yatri Kripya Dhyan Dein opens with a scene of Sumit (Shaheer Sheikh) driving on the hills. He offers a lift to a woman, Nandita (Shweta Basu Prasad), who is stranded on the road after her car breaks down. The two strike up a conversation.
The conversation gets intense when Nandita starts narrating a horror story. She then asks Sumit if he's ever encountered a supernatural presence. He tells her about a woman, who died on the property, he owns. The two get into an argument and Sumit freaks out when Nandita tells him the details of the death of the woman at his property. For a moment, you will come to believe that Nandita is the ghost of that dead woman like Sumit. Sumit jumps out of the car and runs to save his life. The film ends with a totally unexpected twist.
The story is well written and presented. It is crisp and perfectly timed. The entire film is shot in one location and setting, with most scenes shot in the moving car. The performances of the two actors are brilliant. The way Shweta narrates the horror story will get you curious and totally engrossed. As Shweta had earlier said, the female representation in the film is wonderful and rare to find in such stories. It is a well-thought and written film. The story of the film takes twists and turns as the car takes a turn on the hill road. The sound effects of buckets and drawing water that the makers use while Nandita narrates the story might seem a little out of the place but they're negligible.
The film also beautifully captures the beauty of the hills of Kerala. The cinematography is brilliant and complements the story very well. The subtle tone throughout the narrative adds to the drama.
Verdict:
The story is crisp and keeps you on the edge of the seat. The climax of the 16-minute film is a fun surprise and that's perhaps the best part of the drama. The film is a recommended watch and is sure to entertain the audience.
