Marvel's Luke Cage

A botched prison experiment leaves Luke Cage, an ex-convict, with unbreakable bulletproof skin and superpowers. He uses his powers to fight corruption, save his neighbourhood, and ultimately clear his name. Mike Colter plays the titular superhero in Marvel’s Superhero Action series, Luke Cage. The show is created by Cheo Hodari Coker who lends the show a socially conscious motif by focussing on themes of race and black culture, giving the show a Neo-Western and Neo-Blaxploitation tone. The show boasts performances from Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Eric LaRay Harvey, Rosario Dawson, Alfre Woodard, and the two-time Academy Award winner, Mahershala Ali, who is notable for his acclaimed performance in the Academy Award-winning 2016 film, Moonlight. The show is the third Marvel Series leading into the crossover miniseries The Defenders, and received widespread acclaim, winning a Primetime Emmy and a BET Best Actor Award for Mahershala Ali’s performance as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes.
