Steve Franks is the creator of the American detective comedy-drama television series Psych, which airs on USA Network. James Roday plays Shawn Spencer in the television series. Shawn is a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department who can persuade people that he has psychic ability to solve cases thanks to his keen observational skills and remarkable eidetic memory. Shawn's father Henry, a retired Santa Barbara Police Department investigator, is portrayed by Corbin Bernsen in the show, along with Dulé Hill as his perceptive best friend and hesitant partner Gus.
